The Sangyan: Law. Inclusion. Sustainability.

कालाति क्रमात् काल एव फलम् पिबति ~ Acharya Chanakya (Kauṭilya / Viṣṇugupta)
‘When the right thing is not done at the right time, then the time itself destroys the essence.’

The Sangyan is a data-driven, evidence-based, and impact-oriented research, advocacy, and campaign endeavours working on the convergence and intersectionality of Law, Inclusion, and Sustainability. We have been exploring the impact of Environmental Degradation (Climate Change, Disasters, and Pollution) on Vulnerable Communities (especially, Persons with Disabilities) and Ecosystems in India, as well as Losses and Damages to (In)tangible Cultural Heritage. Over time, our primary work has focused on advancing disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction and universally accessible climate action.

Presently, we are undertaking an UNESCO-supported project on "Universally Accessible Education for Inclusive Climate Action, Disaster Risk Reduction, and Environment Protection," integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL), Social and Emotional Learning (SEL), Interactive Storytelling, Educational and Learning Games, Indian Knowledge Systems, and Indigenous Traditional Knowledge.

The Sangyan works to address the “Common Concerns of Humankind” (planetary crisis, polycrisis, and threat multipliers) by collectively “Building Forward Better” (climate-resilient, just, and sustainable), where “We All Belong” (inclusive, equitable, and universally accessible), and move closer to achieving intergenerational justice while leaving no one behind.
